Just a small-town girl from Clovis, New Mexico trying to “make it” as a writer, Rodgers has been penning her way for 40 + years. “Then one day out of the blue a man from New York contacts me and says he wants to feature my work in a new exhibit at the museum where he is the creative director. This was not on my radar.” Last week, Kathleen and her husband, Tom, who is featured in one of the poems, flew to NYC to see firsthand the works on display. “Sometimes success can’t be measured in dollars. Sometimes it sneaks up on you when you aren’t looking. Most writers dream of getting their books on bestseller lists or made into movies, but how many authors see their work featured in a museum?” Three of Rodgers’ poems from the book Because I Fly (McGraw-Hill 2002, edited by Helmut H. Reda), are on display in this new exhibit which asks the question, “Why do we fly?”
