“John Nixon was a senior leadership analyst with the CIA from 1998 to 2011. He did several tours in Iraq and was recognized by a number of federal agencies for his contribution to the war effort. During his time with the CIA, Nixon regularly wrote for, and briefed, the most senior levels of the US government. He also taught leadership analysis to the new generation of analysts coming into the CIA at the Sherman Kent School, the Agency’s in-house analytic training center. Since leaving the Agency in 2011, Nixon has worked as an international risk consultant in Abu Dhabi, UAE. He lives in Alexandria, Virginia.” –penguinrandomhouse.com |

“Amanda Matti served six years in the United States Navy, including a 2005 deployment to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Her Iraq War memoir, A Foreign Affair, was published in October 2016 and tells the story of her deployment to Baghdad where she met her husband, an Iraqi national who served as her translator. Her second book, Voicing the Eagle, is tentatively slated for release in late 2017 and is a de facto prequel to A Foreign Affair, chronicling her husband’s story of being an Iraqi college student recruited right off his neighborhood street in Baghdad to translate for U.S. forces throughout the course of the Iraq War. Amanda holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Social and Political Studies and currently resides in San Diego, CA with her husband, Fahdi, and their two young daughters.” – Goodreads.com |
