I believe God wants you to know that you can make the end of this work week be the end of ‘work’ forever.

What we call “work” can, and should, be a joy. It can be that for you beginning now-no matter what you are doing.

Simply see the daily work of your hands as the pathway to where you want to be. Then, be grateful
that life has given you this path. www.CWGPortal.com

Be thankful in all things and whistle while you work. 🙂

Veiled Virtues

Veiled Virtues Cover

Veiled Virtues transpires in England and has both history and fantasy aspects. It would appeal to teens all the way through adult just as Harry Potter and Inkheart. Told from the two main characters’ different perspectives, the work is a bit of a supernatural mystery and a romantic fantasy all rolled into one.

Paige didn’t know that modern day English knights do exist and that she would need their protection. But all of this changed in an internet cafĂ© in Newbury, England when she saw the blood on her laptop…

Paige had just taken on a summer house-sitting gig in England for a friend of her mother’s when strange occurrences such as hearing voices, the house turning into a freezer, and random bleeding wounds, outward markings of stigmata, appear on Paige. She is acutely aware that things are happening more now that she is in Newbury – she sees bits of the future and is strangely affected by certain people and objects. Her supernatural potential has made her a target for an evil faction in England, the Cerberus Brotherhood, who want her for their own devices.

She meets Nathaniel who is an eclectic shop keeper known for little but is speculated more about in this country township. He and his family, as members of the Rosetta Guard, are all too familiar with the sinister capabilities of the “Cerbs.” As Nathaniel confides his family’s secrets in Paige, their love grows, as does the commitment of the Guard to Paige’s cause.

So Where Do You Start? by Jeanne Charters author of Shanty Gold

So Where Do You Start?

by Jeanne Charters author of Shanty Gold, published by Rogue Phoenix Press (release 2015)

Immigrant sculpture in coffin ship at the Irish Heritage Center, Cobh

This is a picture of a sculpture at Cobh Harbor (Cork Harbor)

So, where do you start?

That’s the question that plagues anyone who attempts to write a novel. Where to start?

In my first iteration of Shanty Gold, I started with Mary Boland sitting on a hillside looking out at the Irish Sea and grieving the fact that she would have to leave it.

It was quite lyrical and poetic (I thought). So did my husband. He still prefers that version.

But one thing I learned in a good writing class was: Begin your novel at the moment of change. Great change.

So, in the final version, you’ll find Mary enroute to the Cork Harbor on foot, falling to the earth until she’s scooped up by a fellow famine family into their wagon.

Limitless Publishing has acquired Blue Sullivan’s empowering nonfiction on relationships, Your Ex-Boyfriend Will Hate This

Limitless Publishing has acquired Blue Sullivan’s empowering nonfiction on relationships, Your Ex-Boyfriend Will Hate This

 Blue Sullivan

Your Ex-Boyfriend Will Hate This, a relationship advice book that differentiates itself by mostly not being about dating at all. Instead, it’s about answering the four core questions in life:

1) Who are you?

2) Where are you?

3) Where are you going?

4) Who are you going with?

The book posits that the last of these questions can only be satisfactorily resolved by answering the other three first. You must know who you are before you can know where you are in life. You must understand where you are in life before you can decide where your life is headed. And you must know the destination before you can choose the right “travel” partner.

To address these essential questions, the book invites the reader to contemplate the origins of their ideas on love, their ideas of what constitutes the “perfect” mate, their ideas of their own personal “type” and, most important, their ideas of themselves, including their own capacity to love and be loved.

Blue Sullivan is a Contributing Writer for Slant Magazine and the Senior Arts Editor, Contributing Writer for Insite Magazine where he has interviewed music & arts luminaries including Johnny Depp, Jerry Seinfeld, Jeff Bridges, Barbara Streisand, Terry Gilliam, Benicio del Toro, Kevin Smith, Eric Bogosian, Oasis, Radiohead and Weezer. In 2004, he sold the motion picture screenplay, Saturday 2am, to Cucaloris Films, a production company founded by Producer Stephen Israel, known for Swimming with Sharks. Sullivan has a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature, Minors in Mathematics & Communications, graduating magna cum laude from Auburn University and a Masters of Professional Writing, graduating summa cum laude from the University of Southern California.

70th Anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge and Honorarium

Biloxi, Mississippi, December 13, 2014

Bouvoir, Jefferson Davis’ Historic Home Site

Thomas E. Simmons, author of Forgotten Heroes of World War II: Personal Accounts of Ordinary Soldiers Land, Sea and Air, was the keynote speaker for the reenactment of WWII’s 70th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge which took place in the Ardennes region of Belgium. He presented five certificates of honor, four posthumously to family members—one being to Knox White (Chapter Ten, “The Last Blitzkreig”)—and one to honoree, Harry Bell (Chapter Nine, “Present and Accounted For”).  There was much appreciation expressed.  Then the re-enactors put on a realistic battle.  http://www.beauvoir.org/events/  www.thomasesimmons.net Published by Taylor Trade Publishing www.rowman.com/TaylorTrade Represented by Loiacono Literary Agency www.loiaconoliteraryagency.com

So You Want to Write a novel… By Jeanne Charters, author of Shanty Gold

So You Want to Write a novel…

By Jeanne Charters, author of Shanty Gold, published by Rogue Phoenix Press (release 2015)

So-You-Wanna-be-a-Writer-e1406605736275

So, You Want to Write a Novel?

Are you sure? Are you very, very sure?

If you answer yes to those questions, let’s proceed.

First thing…sit your backside down in that computer chair and leave it there for two to three hours every day…six days each week.

When inspiration fails to hit, write anyway. Much of it will be crap, but once in a while, a tiny jewel will emerge from the pile of guano that will inspire you. At least for a little while.

When it’s written, and rewritten, and rewritten, and rewritten and has passed muster with a very good critique group, start querying agents. By a critique group, I do not mean relatives of any kind. I mean other writers also struggling to produce something of merit.

Before you query an agent, you must research him/her thoroughly. Make sure they like your genre. Make sure they’re accepting queries. Make sure you follow their exact (and I do mean exact) requirements as specified on their website.

Then, brace yourself for thirty, forty, sixty, eighty rejections. But keep on plugging. Being a successful writer is much moreperspiration than inspiration. Quitting is not an option. Not if you want to write a novel. www.jeannecharters.com Represented by Loiacono Literary Agency www.loiaconoliteraryagency.com

I believe God wants you to know that Life is on your side, you live in a friendly universe and all will work out in the end.

I believe God wants you to know that Life is on your side, you live in a friendly universe and all will work out in the end.

You may be facing a challenge right now, or perhaps an important question you’ve been pondering, but you’re not facing this alone. You can ask God for help. You, too, can have a conversation with God. I promise.

So just take a breath right now and ask God to tell you exactly what you need to hear. Then…listen.  Carefully. www.CWGPortal.com
