ONE WORLD – ONE FAMILY OF MAN – ONE CREATOR OF ALL
Below is a letter Tom Simmons received in reference to Escape from Archangel, an enhanced version of “No Honors, No Parades,” the story of Oswald M. “Jac” Smith, found in Forgotten Heroes of WWII (re-released November 2014, Taylor Trade Publishing), an unforgettable compilation of personal accounts of the lives of men and women who served in our Armed Forces during WWII.
WE MUST NEVER FORGET!

I came across your book while doing some family genealogy research because of a reference to my Uncle, Captain Trygve Wold, the Norwegian Captain mentioned in the last Chapter, Home. I have many fond memories of my Uncle but he was not one to brag about his exploits at sea, including the story you told of Jac sailing to New York on his ship White Horse. It was fun to read the brief account about the hurricane and the conversations and actions they had during that trip. I can easily picture him at the helm and being so calm under such circumstances. I wish I had discovered your book earlier and could have thanked Jac for telling his story. I have many photos and personal belongings of Uncle Trygve and I am pleased to add your book to the family collection. There was one minor error to the story. My Uncle was born in 1891 and therefore was not 69 years old as mentioned in the story, but that trivial error does not detract from the story. Thanks to you and to Jac for bringing this to light.
Best Regards,
Jim Wangberg, Nephew of Captain Trygve Otto Wold.
Veiled Virtues by Jan Fischer-Wade is going to print!
Jan Fischer Wade, author of Veiled Virtues, has signed with Muse-It-Up Publishing to do a print run of the novel. The ebook has been out for over a year garnering acclaim in both YA and adult audiences just as Harry Potter and Inkheart. Scheduled for release Winter/Spring 2014.
Transpiring in England, it is told from the two main characters’ different perspectives, the work is a bit of a supernatural mystery and a romantic fantasy all rolled into one.
Paige didn’t know that modern day English knights do exist and that she would need their protection. But all of this changed in an internet café in Newbury, England when she saw the blood on her laptop…
Paige has just graduated from high school and taken on a summer house-sitting gig in England for a friend of her mother’s. Strange occurrences such as hearing voices, the house turning into a freezer, random bleeding wounds and outward markings of stigmata which appear on Paige are only a few signs that all is not as it seems. She is suddenly aware that things are happening more now that she is in Newbury – she sees bits of the future and is strangely affected by certain people and objects. In addition to all that, her supernatural potential has made her a target for an evil faction in England, the Cerberus Brotherhood, who want her for their own devices.
Then she meets Nathaniel who is an eclectic shop keeper known for little but is speculated more about in this country township. He and his family, as members of the Rosetta Guard, are all too familiar with the sinister capabilities of the “Cerbs.” As Nathaniel confides his family’s secrets to Paige, their love grows, as does the commitment of the Guard to Paige’s cause.
This is the first in a series for Fischer-Wade, an attorney and artist from the Lincoln, Nebraska. She is currently hard at work on the next two novels in the Veiled Virtues series and has been researching American legal cases from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries for them. Veiled Virtues reminds me of the Knights of the Round Table come to the 21st century to protect and guide the chosen ones. www.JanFischerWade.com and www.VeiledVirtues.com

The Author’s Perspective
An interview with Ken La Salle
“How do I stay productive? I remind myself that the difference between the amateur and the pro is that the pro doesn’t wait for inspiration or the “right time.””
-Rob Delaney
THIS is marvelous. Janet Sikes, a dear lady I used to work with moons ago, said, “You never “try”, you “do”.”
“Trying” shows lack of confidence; “doing” shows your character. You can say are a pro at doing dishes/laundry, walking the dog, AT BEING A PARENT! Be the best that you can be at anything you do. I am a pro at lifting those authors up who deserve to be recognized. Oh, yeah, and all the above, too. LOL
Be a PRO.

Words from Pep
The Least of These
Wind chill crept to -65°F driving cold through the cabin walls. Aspirin sized spots of frost appeared on nail heads of the handmade door and crystalline fractals grew on each pane of glass consuming what little humidity remained. Pine popped, snapped in the woodstove adding its voice to the contracting walls as logs broke free from old chinking. . . . . . Finishing off my supper’s last morsel of fried perch I heard a faint peep. Soon another and another came from outside my window. I quietly scraped away some frost and squinted into the darkness. There huddled together in a row with tiny beaks parallel to the sill were five Nuthatch squeezed against the glass absorbing what heat they could. . . . . . Under the stove I keep a dozen glacial stones to act as a heat sink. Putting on mittens I selected three, set them gently on the shelf under the window and turned down the light. Water soon dripped from the frosted pane pooling near the stones. A sparkle of increasing comfort was clearly reflected from their widening eyes as a waxing moon peeked out from behind the night clouds. . . . . . Through that night, while ice split the trees, I tended the fire and exchanged stones every couple hours for my little friends. They left just before sunrise and the words from long ago came to mind, “Truly I tell you, what you have done for the least of these you have done for me.”
