The Fredericksburg Writers Conference has set the date for their agent conference for Saturday, Nov. 3. Literary agent Jeannie Loiacono will accept a limited number of pitches by area writers for consideration by her agency, which specializes in publishing first-time authors. In addition to taking the pitch presentations from writers, Loiacono will present, “The Writer’s Journey: What Writers Can do to Help Themselves Get a Traditional Publishing Contract.” Four other local authors will also present sessions.
“The conference will also include presentations on self publishing and promotion, how to pitch to an agent, and publication by a university press,” said writers conference spokesman Robert Deming. The conference will be held at the Hill Country University Center in Fredericksburg, Texas, between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., with a social scheduled for the evening before. The fee for the conference is $60, with an additional $60 for those wishing to pitch a project to the agent. A limited number of slots with the agent are available and they are first-come, first-serve.
The deadline to secure a slot with the agent is Oct. 1. Attendees may register for the agent conference on the group’s web site, http://fbgwriters.yolasite.com or email Sally Clark at [email protected] for more information. “Fredericksburg Writers Conference was established four years ago to support area authors and offers quarterly programs featuring writers, editors and marketing professionals,” Deming said. A conference session on pitches to agents will be held on September 20. The public is invited to attend that and all quarterly meetings free of charge.
