Murder in Caney Fork is very well written and is one of those stories that you find yourself caught up in. It was a story on life in the south in the 40’s and of a young man injured in the war that returns home and tries to build a life in his home town. The dynamics of the relationships of the characters and the culture made for a very interesting and enjoyable book. This book has it all…from romance to murder to family loyalty. Wally Avett is a fantastic storyteller. I look forward to reading more from him.

A drama of family tragedy, upheaval, forgiveness and renewal set on the post-Katrina Mississippi coast, it is a very poignant story many will be able to relate to; possibly imitating their own healing process.

The Tides of Mississippi tells of an American family devastated by the shooting death of the seventeen-year-old daughter, Jenny.  The father, Rick, flees the nightmares of Chicago to refuge on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Andy is admitted to the psych ward for marijuana-induced schizophrenia and Rick has him discharged AMA, bringing him to live in Biloxi. Rick falls in love with Andy’s counselor and new teacher, a multi-generation Southerner wary of Yankees. The sixteen-year-old Andy must deal with the loss of his sister, a dramatic change in his culture, as well as a psychiatric issue. When the mother, Mallory, comes down to try to remake the family, she reveals a dark secret about Rick that throws Andy into a crisis.  Rick must decide whether to give up his new love and life for Andy’s sake or risk the loss of son and livelihood.

Philip Levin’s passion for writing and photography has led him to exotic locations around the globe, inspiring his production of seventeen published books in multiple genres, such as his murder mystery Inheritance (iUniverse, 2007)photo children books such as the African Ndovu the Elephant (Doctor’s Dreams Publishing, 2011), and his non-fiction anthologies on Mississippi history. He is the recipient of a number of awards. Shattered Lives, won first place in the 2008 NOLA RWA contest, the 2010 grand prize in the New Orleans Dixie Kane Classic contest, and second place in the 2012 Florida Writing Association’s Royal Palm.

After thirty-seven years as an emergency medical physician, Levin continues to serve as President of the Coast Counties Medical Society. He also maintains a position on the boards of the Mississippi State Medical Journal and is a delegate to the state convention and is also currently president of the Gulf Coast Writer’s Association. Levin lectures frequently and is very active on social media. www.gcwriters.org www.doctorsdreams.net Represented by Loiacono Literary Agency www.loiaconoliteraryagency.com  Published by Argus Publishing

Argus Publishing acquires Daniel Lorti’s novel The Avignon Legacy!

Argus Publishing acquires Daniel Lorti’s novel The Avignon Legacy!

The Avignon Legacy

Lorti-615-Black&White

When Pope Gregory XI abruptly decides to move the Papacy back to Rome in 1377, chaos and rebellion descends upon both Avignon and the Papal States in Italy.  The Rome-based Pope’s foes and critics are everywhere and any shipment of the papal treasury from Avignon to the Vatican is at risk. An ingenious location is devised by Sir Jean Termonde, a heroic knight, to secure the treasure from discovery until it can be transferred to Rome.

The papal treasure never arrived at the Vatican, and the legend of the lost gold and jewels has grown over the centuries.

Rare book dealer Jim Pierce’s expertise is in tracking down and retrieving old volumes coveted by well-heeled clients. He has little interest in the French Middle Ages until two armed thugs enter his bookstore demanding an ancient 14th century volume on the Avignon Papacy that mentions the Church’s treasury. They are killed thanks to Pierce’s precautionary measures.

When he receives an offer of $5 million from the legendary billionaire recluse John W. Baxter, to steal a 14thcentury volume from the Vatican Secret Archives, his interest is piqued leading him to wonder if Baxter wants the volume or if the contents are related to the treasure. So Pierce sets out to attempt two thefts: the volume from the Vatican, and the treasure from Avignon. That’s when he discovers the French and the British police are on Baxter’s heels who is, in turn, after him.

A writer of factual fiction, Daniel Lorti has written several works, The Avignon Legacy is his second novel. He is currently working on his third, a romantic thriller.

Lorti has a B.S.E. (summa cum laude) and an M.S.E from Arizona State University. An aerospace engineer with a military sensors, weapons, and intelligence background, he was Chief Radar Engineer for the Northrop Grumman Corporation for many years. In 1995, he was appointed to President Clinton’s twenty-member conference committee for Trade and Investment in Northern Ireland. As an international arms broker he conducted business in Europe, the Middle East and Asia. In 2003, he and his partners sold a highly classified aerospace company to Northrop Grumman. He currently resides in Southern California. www.danielclorti.com

When Grant Wodehouse went to the barn that fine morning, he had no idea what good, bad or ugly would take place—saddle a couple of horses, a little S&M with his neighbor and a pitchfork through his chest, pinning him to the wall, is what.

Who would not want him dead? Having bedded every female he’d ever laid eyes on, swindled anyone he had ever had business dealings with and ignored and ostracized his children, one person said it was time to meet his maker…but who?

The second in the Sam Lagarde Mystery Series leads us on another blood trail with twists and turns never anticipated.

Ginny Fite is an award-winning journalist who has covered crime, politics, government, healthcare, art and all things human. Congratulations! So very proud to have her as an agent and to represent her novel. It will surely be a classic right up there with Flannery O’Conner. https://loiaconoliteraryagency.com/authors/johnnie-bernhard/

I believe God wants you to know……that happiness is good health and a bad memory.

I believe God wants you to know……that happiness is good health and a bad memory.

Ingrid Bergman said that, and it is so true. Memories, of course, bring up moments that are past, whereas
happiness is always found in the moment that is here, now.

Constantly remembering bad things, or sad things, can rob you of your present — that is, your pre-sent — joy.
Happiness has been sent to you in advance by God. It is here, in this moment, if you will seize it…and share it.
