Future Prime: Top Ten Science Fiction Films – What’s your favorite science fiction film?

At the start of the new millennium, fans who attended science fiction conventions persuaded Flynn and Blackwood—aka “The Film Doctors”—to conduct a survey of the Top Ten Science Films of the 20th Century.  They then embarked on a ten-year odyssey to gather thousands of fan votes. The result: a list of science fiction films that probably contains at least one of your favorites.

Each film was considered from its inception, to the pre-production period, through production and finally the audience’s reaction, reviews, critical responses and interviews with directors, producers and stars of the movies.

An educational enlightening of the motion picture industry, it shows that it truly all starts with a thought, a vision, which when fed, honed and supported becomes “where no man has gone before.”

There are several more Future Prime books in the works. They have already conducted the poll for the top ten horror films and are composing the manuscript at this time.

The Other Two-Fifths

The shadow of Abe Lincoln disappears in the catastrophic race riot shattering the Springfield, Illinois community in 1908.  Despite the model of a harmonious community, a labor strike in the mines pitted blacks against whites. A lone man seeking revenge seizes the moment, raging a war against the Carter family.  The cauldron of racial hatred leads to the destruction of two black communities, claiming seven lives.  Hollis Carter escapes.  He begins a journey of social justice; one that continues on in his children and grandchildren.

The Carter legacy becomes an organization, covert and lethal, in 1956 Chicago. The Amos family uses the organization to save a young black man from murder, as they fight injustices not tackled in courtrooms. It is this same organization that saves four black voter registration workers and a lone white freedom rider who fall into a deadly KKK ambush in 1969 Mississippi.

Amos Carter’s great-granddaughter and her husband, two survivors of the bloody Mississippi Voter Registration Drive, recall the pain and celebrate the victory during the historic inauguration of the first African-American president of the United States.

Early’s professional writing career began in 2003 when her short story entry won first place in Ebony Magazine’s literary contest. She continued writing historical fiction and family sagas, but changed to contemporary romance. Her published works include: Saras Reward (New Concepts Publishing, 2007), Look Both Ways and Fireflies (Genesis Press, 2009), Oak Bluffs and Friends in Need (Genesis Press, 2010) and Separate Dreams (Genesis Press, 2011).  Joan’s first novel, Legacy (First Books, 2002) remains a favorite with book clubs, and was followed by: Night Sweats (New Concepts Publishing, 2012), A Tangled Web and Heartstrings (New Concepts Publishing, 2015).  She returns to her first love of historic fiction and family saga in The Other Two-Fifths, (available for acquisition, represented by Loiacono Literary Agency, www.llallc.net). https://loiaconoliteraryagency.com/authors/joan-early/

Joan and her husband live outside of Beaumont, Texas, where she continues writing, attends writer’s conferences, and enjoys entering literary contests.

Spirit of my ancestors…

Spirit of my ancestors,

this day I join in acknowledging the blessedness of the many

who inspired me and shaped my faith.

I turn in memory and appreciation

toward those ancestors in my family of origin

who influenced and encouraged me to live as my best self.

I bring to mind others who enriched my life

and led me further on my journey of personal transformation.

I honor all those who sacrificed and suffered

in order for peace and justice to be furthered on our planet.

I give thanks and rejoice for the countless, unnamed persons

those whose goodness left a lasting mark of kindness and compassion.

May the remembrance of each of these blessed ones

deepen my personal commitment

to leave a trace of goodness wherever I go.

When I depart this sphere of life may I do so

having contributed to individual and world peace.

Loiacono Literary Agency takes on Dance Like You Mean It by Jeanne Skartsiaris!

head-shot-2016

What if you wrote a steamy, erotic novel that was so hot bookstores couldn’t keep it on their shelves?  What if you couldn’t tell anyone you wrote it?

With a mundane life as a nurse, a husband who is grazing other fields, and a daughter of an impressionable age, Cassie checks her horoscope one morning just for kicks and notices an article about romance novels and how profitable publishing could be if one could spin a good tale.

She pens Wild Rose under a pseudonym and it flies to the top of the charts, is the talk of the town, and people are clamoring to know who the author is.  What would her children think if they knew?  Or her own mother, who ‘taught her better’, and, worse, her husband who’d thought she’d turned back into a virgin since they’d not had sex in so long.  How could she be thrown into the spotlight and still be a good mom?

Wild Rose, Cassie’s caldron of prose, is woven through this story.  Set it the 70s, it is the story of Rosemary, a beautiful photographer who wants to be recognized for her body of work, not her haunting beauty.  Although a modern women, she is as adventurous sexually as she is with her camera and beds men like candy…until she falls in love.

Both novels parallel each other as Cassie realizes Rosemary is not so different from her.

When not writing Jeanne Skartsiaris also works as a Sonographer. Prior to that she was a medical/legal photographer for a plaintiff’s law firm. She attended creative writing courses at Southern Methodist University and is a member of Romance Writers of America’s local chapter, Dallas Area Romance Authors. Also the author of Surviving Life and Snow Globe.  She lives in Dallas, Texas. www.jeanneskartsiaris.com

This is a fast-paced read, a disturbing glimpse into the lives of Jewish families in Russia at the turn of the 20th century. Very sad and horrific the violence and tragedies these characters endure. At its heart though, this book is a moving, poignant love story that reminds us of our own precious humanity, no matter what our race, religion or ethnicity. I can’t wait for the sequel. I need to know what happens to these extremely well-drawn characters.

5Excellent Novel about Jewish Life in late 1800s Russia.

By Cass Cowgirl

I bought this book a couple of weeks ago when the author had a table at an event I attended. She autographed the book and I figured I’d read it when I had time. I don’t have a lot of time to read these days, so I’m kind of picky about what I buy to read. I took it home, and that evening just thought I’d take a peek at the first few pages out of curiosity. And I was hooked. I read till I had to go to bed. The next day I read every free minute I had and finished it that night before I went to bed (late). The story just draws you in, and when you become acquainted with the characters you begin to feel you know them. At times you might be disappointed in their behavior and reactions and at times proud of them. The late 1800s of Russia was a dangerous time to be a Jew. I’ve had people tell me they weren’t familiar with a word I used in something I wrote. The word was “pogrom”. If you aren’t familiar with the word, this book will make it crystal clear, painfully so. I think it was a book that needed to be written.
This is something I do very very seldom. I also bought the kindle version. I would like to keep my autographed copy nice, and there are times I take my PlayBook with me that I wouldn’t take just one book. I like it well enough I wanted to have it available. It’s just not really one of those I would want to start and then have to leave it for a week or two.
Needless to say, I’m quite ready for the sequel! https://rochellewisofffields.wordpress.com/  Published by Argus Publishing  Represented by Loiacono Literary Agency www.llallc.net

Cromwell's Folly

Good girls, it is commonly believed, are obsessed with bad boys. Usually, they get burned. Rarely do they get revenge…

Ben Cromwell—handsome, sexy and ruthless—keeps a stable of women; picks them up the way someone picks up a ripe peach, consumes it in a few bites and throws away the pit. This time, he chose the wrong peaches.

When Detective Sam Lagarde of the Charles Town, West Virginia State Police is called to the scene of a homicide, he instantly surmises the force he is facing is far beyond what he’s dealt with before. A head in dumpster and a pinky finger with an emerald/diamond ring attached is all he has to go by.

Doggedly following lead after lead, Lagarde stumbles upon five women who all have one thing in common…
